For more than 10 years, Statron has been the global supplier of UPS (uninterruptable power supply) systems based on IEC standards for Shell. Worldwide, refineries, off- and on-shore oil platforms and any critical power supply around the O&G industry at Shell are supplied by Statron with reliable UPS systems.

The extension of the Frame Agreement for another period of at least 5 years demonstrates Shell’s continued confidence in Statron’s products and services. According to Shell, the reliability of the supplied systems, the cost-performance ratio and the services provided by global network of Statron subsidiaries and partners played the major role in the decision to renew the agreement.

Statron is honored that Shell has chosen to extend the agreement and we are looking forward to continue our cooperation.

Statron’s development has been characterized by steadily increasing sales numbers in the recent years. Statron’s strength lies in the area of UPS (uninterruptible power supplies) and battery systems. Typical applications are in the areas “Energy”, “Infrastructure”, “Industry” and “Oil & Gas”. Since investments in the expanded energy sector in Europe, investments in industry and infrastructure globally and investments in oil and gas in the Middle East continue to be made intensively, we expect demand for UPS systems to continue to increase.

Since the crisis in the global supply chains in 2021 – 2023, Statron AG’s strategy has been to further increase the vertical range of manufacturing of UPS systems. This is intended to achieve a shorter delivery time for the systems and greater independence.

Both effects mentioned lead to the need for increased production capacity. Statron is now complying with this and is setting up production of UPS systems in Grafenschachen, Austria. The branch in Austria has existed for more than 25 years. From there, the Austrian market was excellently looked after by local colleagues. Consequently, sales grew steadily here too. Key customers such as ASFINAG, ÖBB, Wiener Linien, EVN, Siemens etc. are just a small selection of excellent references.

Now it is time to take the next expansion step. Based on an excellent team and very good logistical connections (Grafenschachen is right in the middle between Vienna and Graz, the location is only 2 km from the motorway), production of UPS systems will be set up there in the next few months. The first step was to rent a hall in the immediate vicinity of the existing company building. For the next step in growth, a piece of land was purchased, which is also in the immediate vicinity.

Saudi Arabia (KSA) has experienced rapid economic growth and is on a further way of generating prosperity and development for the country. The projects among the Vision 2030 are good examples of that.

On Tuesday, May 21st, the Statron Group achieved a major milestone by partnering with ISG (Part of AK Holding) to establish a local production facility for UPS systems in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

ISG (isg.com.sa), the Industrial Systems Group, is an affiliate of Al Abdulkarim Holding. ISG has been at the forefront of providing quality equipment and devices for various industrial facilities in the oil & gas industry, power & water utilities and manufacturing facilities. ISG was established in 2008 and is headquartered in Dammam.

The Al AbdulKarim Holding (AKH) was established 50 years ago and is today a leader in the supply of petrochemical, electrical, IT, communication, instrumentation, automation & control, piping, oilfield supplies and engineering equipment in the Middle East (ME). AKH (akh.com.sa) is headquartered in Dammam and has developed a network of branches throughout the ME region. AKH is the Gulf’s largest distributor of electrical, electromechanical, telecommunication, and oilfield components and equipment.

For more than 45 years, Statron has been THE partner for high-quality and highly reliable uninterruptable power supply (UPS) solutions and battery systems. More than 30’000 UPS and battery systems have been successfully delivered, and installed, and are in operation at more than 3’000 clients in more than 100 countries. This success is based on traditional Swiss values that focus on technical excellence and quality in all areas of operation.

Statron has an extremely large installed base throughout the ME region. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an important market for Statron, especially in the areas of oil & gas, water, energy, infrastructure, and power applications.

The new local production, based on the cooperation agreement between ISG and Statron, is aimed to strengthen Statron’s presence in the market, being closer to the customer in the Kingdom and fulfilling the country’s IKTVA (In-Kingdom Total Value Added) requirements.

The negotiations between Statron and ISG were intense but ultimately productive, culminating in the signing of the final contract at a ceremony at the AKH Tower in Dammam.

Statron has been operating successfully worldwide in the field of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for almost 50 years. Today, Statron has an export share of almost 80 % and sets standards in large-scale UPS projects with applications in the infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, industrial and railroad sectors.

Despite our impressive global presence, it is important to us at Statron that we also have a strong, positive and sustainable presence in our local environment.

We have therefore developed various forms of support and collaboration (Statron sustainability).

Recently, we have added a new chapter to this activity. Statron has agreed a cooperation with the company “SCHÜWO Trink-Kultur” (www.schuewo.ch), which is also based in Aargau. SCHÜWO Trink-Kultur is an owner-managed family business in its third generation. Based in Wohlen, AG, the company is only a few kilometers away from the headquarters of Statron AG. This means, for example, that the number of kilometers driven for the delivery of drinks is reduced – and the impact on the environment is kept to an absolute minimum.

The cooperation between the two companies was agreed between the two managing directors Adrian Schürmann (right in the picture) and Ruben Vogelsang (left in the picture).

For almost 50 years, Statron is the top-quality supplier for uninterruptable power supply systems (UPS). In the area of Energy and Power (power generation, transmission and distribution), O&G (offshore platforms, pump stations, refineries) and Infrastructure (tunnels, buildings, hospitals), Statron is one of the global leaders in UPS systems. One part of Statron’s success is the great network of partners, suppliers and sub-suppliers.

The significant disruption of the global supply chain in 2022 and 2023 has hit Statron strongly. It was extremely difficult to deliver on time as the global market for semiconductors and products with power electronics was drought out. All these disruptions have cost us a huge amount of power, time and even money.

The demand for products with power electronics remains to be high, this comes due to the global growth of the economy and due to the increasing demand of electric vehicles and its infrastructure. Consequently, Statron decided to further invest in its own R&D and to source-in a number of processes and products. This strategic decision was made – and as it is typical for dynamic SME’s – it was immediately started with the projects. As a consequence, the global R&D team was strengthened. Here, Statron is using its global presence and the team in India as well as the team at the headquarters in Mägenwil, CH, were increased.

We are looking very much forward to the next steps, count on us!

The Inter Airport exhibition in Munich concluded on October 13th, and Statron and its partner ITW GSE are pleased to provide a highly successful summary of the event. During the exhibition, the new ITW GSE Powershare was introduced. This allows airports to implement intelligent energy management using their existing power supply lines, converters, and PCA units of the ITW GSE 2400 and 3400/3500 types, enabling the provision of a charging infrastructure on the apron. The “Powershare” system can also be retrofitted into existing ITW 2400/3400/3500 systems at any time. This system allows airports to achieve significant savings in infrastructure and ongoing energy costs while also helping to minimize the CO2 emissions of aircraft on the ground.

Statron and ITW GSE would like to express their gratitude to all visitors and are already looking forward to the next exhibition, the “Passenger Terminal Expo,” which will take place in Frankfurt next year in April. See you there!

Best regards, Ulrich Dürr (Statron Germany)

Together with our partner “Sander – Batterien” we look back on an extremely successful eltefa 2023 from March 28 to 30. After a four-year break due to Corona, the fair was not only exceptionally well attended, but people brought genuine interest and a great atmosphere.

The Sander – Batterien booth featured our new and world’s only Butler S mobile energy storage system (BESS). This can be used as a battery-powered and therefore environmentally friendly generator on construction sites or as a mobile UPS.

The reliability of the Butler S is based on the use of a reliable Statron UPS in combination with a lithium-ion battery.

  1. high reliability
  2. better price/performance ratio compared to diesel generators
  3. no CO2 emissions, no particulate matter, no NOx,
  4. allows the use of sensitive loads with constant voltage
  5. permit-free and simple installation
  6. minimal noise emission (not perceptible)
  7. Almost no maintenance required

Statron and Sander – Batteries would like to thank all visitors. We are already looking forward to the next eltefa – fair which will take place in two years again in Stuttgart.

See you soon.
